NY Volunteer Visit

We were lucky enough to have several volunteers come down to the farm right after we received our Hurricane Harvey refugees in September, to help out with all of our new residents, and we couldn't be more thankful!

With the extra hands, our residents, and especially the Hurricane Harvey refugees, were able to get a little extra special time to play, go for walks, and just be around people, which can make all the difference! Check out the pictures below to see all the fun that our volunteers had while helping out at the farm...

Two different groups of dogs got to have some fun splashing around and cooling off in the river

All weekend, our dogs got to have some extra walks, so they could explore, get some exercise, and work
on walking on a leash.

We can't thank all of these ladies enough for all they do for our rescue and all the animals that they have helped! We are so lucky to have such an awesome rescue village. If you would like to lend a hand at the farm and help our residents get that extra, special time, we would love to have you! Contact the farm by email at Farm@SaintFrancisFarm.org.

Pints and Paws for a Cause

On Saturday, June 10th, Thomas Creek Brewery hosted St Francis Farm Animal Sanctuary for our first Pints and Paws for a Cause event and it turned out to be a great success for us!

Many Greenville, SC residents came out to support our sanctuary and brought their own four-legged friends along. The local natural dog treats maker, Bully Bites, also came out to sell her delicious natural treats in support of St Francis Farm. It was truly a day for fun and fellowship!

Three of our most cuddly residents: Milo, Tallulah, and Matilda got to hang out all day at the Brewery and got all the cuddles they could handle! Milo, who is very much still a puppy, was the energetic one, grabbing everyone’s attention with his big smile. While Matilda pulled everyone in with her long houndy body. Tallulah was the biggest hit at the event, with her sad eyes and her perfect “pet me” pose!

Our event also had some awesome support from several local sports teams: The Greenville Drive, The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, and The Carolina Panthers. Each team donated some great items for us to raffle off to raise money for our pups, that made Pints and Paws even better! Everyone was really excited to get the chance to win these great prizes. Congratulations to our winners AJ, Cathy, and Dawn! They have won center ice tickets and Swamp Rabbits hockey gear; tickets and Greenville Drive gear; a collectible Carolina Lithograph football.

We are thrilled to announce that Pints and Paws for a Cause brought in a little over $600 to support our rescue mission and all the residents at St Francis Farm! We truly appreciate all of the support that we received that made this possible from Thomas Creek Brewery, Bully Bites, and raffle ticket sales from members of the community!

Finally, I think the best part of everyone’s day, was when sweet Tallulah found her forever family! This beautiful senior beagle had a very rough start to life; being over bred by hunters and then dumped at a shelter, covered in tumors when they were done with her. But now, she is getting the life she deserves, living out her golden years surrounded by all the love she could need, with the absolute best family for her! We are all overjoyed to see this perfect happy ending <3

Thank you so much to everyone for your support in making this event successful!

Follow us on Facebook to see when our next event is happening near you to support our permanent residents and help us make more of these perfect happy endings!

Be a Force for Good

How To Be A Fundraiser

You don't have to work for a non-profit, or even be a regular volunteer, to become a fundraiser for your favorite non-profit or animal rescue.

There a literally hundreds of ways to raise money for our rescue with some help from your family and friends. Just a few ideas are:
  • Donate Your Birthday - Contact the farm at "farm@saintfrancisfarm.org" and we will work with you to set everything up! All we need from you is a description of what you want your campaign to say to your friends and family and a picture. We'll do everything else and send you the link to your Birthday Campaign as soon as it's ready.
  • Hold a Bake Sale - Do you love to bake? Whip up some of your favorite treats and set up a table at an event or location that has given you the okay. Make a sign explaining who and what you are raising money for and your sale will be sure to grab attention. You can even put out a jar for donations.
  • Join a Walk/Run-athon -  If you are the active type, almost every city holds one, whether it is a 5K or a full marathon, reach out to friends, family, co-workers, or gym buddies, to ask them to sponsor your run. Sponsors commit to a pledge to donate after you have completed the run/walk, which you can then collect and send directly to us!
You can find hundreds of other ideas for your special fundraiser in This Article from Fundly, the crowdfunding website, and in This Article from Double the Donation, the matching gift donation website. Or if you super creative, reach out to the farm and let us know what you have in mind! We would love to help any way we can, whether through providing pictures of our residents and the farm, or simply just information.

Creating your own unique fundraiser is an awesome way to support St Francis Farm Animal Sanctuary and Last Chance Animal Rescue even if you are not able to foster or volunteer when we have events. All you have to do is come up with an idea and put it into action. Share it with all of your friends and family on your social media accounts, email, and in person to make the impact even bigger! We can't wait to see what you come up with.

We LOVE our supporters!

Kids for a Caws

Pelham Road Elementary students pulled together to raise money for St Francis Farm Animal Sanctuary and all of our residents.

Back in March, Pelham Road Elementary reached out to our sanctuary with an idea to hold a fundraiser in support of our rescue and in memory of a great teacher and animal lover that had recently passed away. We were beyond happy and excited to work with them!

Our sweet Rusty joined me as we went and visited the Leadership and Beta clubs, who would be leading this fundraiser for us. Those great students had a lot of great questions about our rescue, the work we do, and about Rusty of course! Rusty was a bit shy, as he was one little guy surrounded by a lot of new people. But he enjoyed getting to go around and get a pet on the head by each kid, and several teachers. By the end of the trip he was so worn out, he slept the whole way home!

That next week the Leadership and Beta clubs enthusiastically visited each class every morning to collect donations for St Francis Farm. By the end of the week we were very surprised and happy to hear that the Pelham Road Elementary students raised over $900 for the farm! We are very honored and humbled that all the students cared so much for our rescue and rescue animals and truly appreciate the work those awesome kids put in!

Thank you so much Pelham Road Elementary!

Raising Money for a Great Caws

Elementary Students Raising Money for a Great Caws

Summit Drive Elementary Students Worked Together to Raise Over $500 for

LCAR St. Francis Farm

Staff at Summit Drive Elementary, in Greenville, SC, reached out to LCAR St. Francis Farm at the beginning of February with a great idea! They wanted to do a fundraiser and believed that all of their students would rally behind one that supported animals in need.

Most people reading this post know who St. Francis Farm is, but for those that don't; we are an animal sanctuary, located on a 50 acre farm in Carlisle, SC. We have over 100 dogs and 40 cats on our farm all the time. We take in the animals that literally have no place else they could go. We save the last animals on the list that no one else wants to save because they might be: old, hurt, or scared. We give these animals a home, love, time, space and any medical treatments they might need to enjoy life. We also house hundreds of animals every year on their way to a foster or forever home. And our safe haven is always here in case, for some reason, that "perfect" match forever home just doesn't work out.

We were thrilled and humbled that Summit Drive picked us! Two of our staff members visited the school before the fundraiser began to introduce the students to Laurel and Matilda (two of our permanent residents at the farm). The kids LOVED every minute of the visit, and so did Laurel and Matilda! We told their stories of how these two amazing dogs came to our farm and how their fundraiser would help them. Of course, they were a little more interested in petting the dogs... But I think they got the point of the fundraiser. :)

All the different classes were so excited and immediately started bringing in their coins. It was a close race at first, but one team pulled away, and raised over $200!! That was amazing! Not only did they win the grand prize of getting to duck tape the principle to a tree... but their class teacher also added the incentive that she would bring her own dog in for the day to celebrate the win!

When we went back to celebrate and congratulate the winning class, we were ecstatic to learn that the school had raised $519 altogether for St Francis Farm! Percy came with us to thank the students for all their hard work and awesome job with this great fundraiser. Our staff and our little "helpers" can't wait to go back and visit the students again!

Pucks and Paws

Fundraiser with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits are a hockey team in Greenville, SC with a whole team full of animal lovers. So a few years ago, they started the Pucks and Paws hockey game, where all supporters who attend the game can bring their beloved dogs. They also allow several rescues from the area to attend the game and give back a portion of the proceeds to these rescues. St. Francis Farm was one of the chosen rescues for this year's game! We had a table to speak with locals about the farm and about the important work we do. This was a great opportunity for us to reach more people in the area.

We had information on the Farm, homemade dog treats, and a giveaway for one of our new Facebook followers. We brought with us two of our senior dogs, Franklyn and Laurel, and they had a blast!

By the end of the night Laurel was pooped and the Swamp Rabbits had won! It was a great night.

We met several Greenville residents who loved all animals and had rescue pets of their own. We hope to be a part of this game again in the coming years and hope to see more and more people interested in not only St. Francis Farm, but in rescues in general! Thank you for support to help make this night happen. As well as helping us continue to operate through your generosity. We operate solely on donations. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a big impact!
